I'm always astonished by your ability to quickly create such gorgeous pieces of music. The composition is incredibly rich, and you used some delightful chords. I like the progression of the song's mood. It starts off bittersweet, and then it progresses into what I think is supposed to be a blissful-nostalgic mood, and then that sense of happiness recedes toward the end of the piece, but not totally. You pretty much nailed the theme. The only criticism I have is that the ending seems unpolished. This is a fantastic piece and one of my favorites of this compo.

yes, this is a copypaste from chipscompo :)

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Thank you for the review and the nice words! I'm glad you liked the chords, and the progression of the piece. I think my style is very recognizable in this piece, since I made it in so short a time, inspired by the theme and some memories of my own. While I'm personally content with the ending, I understand why it can seem rushed :)

I really like the story and all the fx!

The thrill I get from listening to this track hasn't diminished yet :D

Lich responds:

;))))))

I'm glad you chose to remain in the contest because this is a fantastic song. I love the change in style toward the end, and I love your use of chimes for transitioning. As always, your vocals are spectacular. Nice work!

etherealwinds responds:

Oh me too. To be honest, I pretty much come close to withdrawing every round! I guess the adrenaline is what pushes me to actually complete my music in time. Thankfully everything went pretty smoothly with this track and I didn't encounter any big issues. Thank you Blue!

This isn't bad for a first song.

johnfn responds:

I still remember when I composed this (FOURTEEN YEARS AGO..............) that in the second melodic phrase, I had a better idea, but then I accidentally deleted it and couldn't remember what it was, so I was like 'screw it' and did something vaguely close but that sounds bad. still makes me mad to this day. =P

This piece blew me away quite quickly. I predicted it would win before my first listen ended, and before most tracks were submitted, haha. I already reviewed this on chipscompo, but I wanted to show my support here as well.

Miyolophone responds:

Thanks for stopping by here too! Glad you liked it :D

Once again, that was a nice podcast. I think the first song was a perfect choice for background music.

ChronoNomad responds:

Awesome, thanks for the quick review! Yeah, Finn's Round of 32 track was definitely a good fit. Just the right level of energy, I think. Nice and positive. :)

Wow, this is a really good use of Una Corda. It conveys the emotion of your composition in such an elegant manner. I believe I stated this about another piece of yours, but I think it's apt to repeat it again here: the harshness of the higher register isn't very pleasing, but it still works imo because it denies full satisfaction to the listener, which enhances the piece's emotional depth. Despite the relative simplicity, you still managed to retain the emotional side of your compositional style :D This is certainly easier to follow than your usual pieces, though that's not necessary better.

I really enjoyed it!

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Seems you easily recognized the piano xD
This piece wasn't recorded with the Una in mind, but I ended up using it anyway. If something is actually composed for it, the atmosphere can be beyond incredible! I layered pianos here. I have a cotton Una a bit to the left, a tremolo one to the right, and the noise one in the middle, along with a little maverick for added depth. The distortion sounds are intentional too :)

I know about the harshness of the higher register, and indeed I happen to like that it's not "perfect". I could've easily made them softer and longer, for a more clean sound. But I fancy this soft grit :D

Thanks a lot for the review! I appreciate it :3

This is amazing! Your sound design is something to marvel at.

Mooke responds:

Thank you for your review, BlueOceans!

This was very relaxing, and nice lyrics :)

AsternFredAnimations responds:

Thanks man :) i was aiming to make it as relaxing as possible and still make it sound a bit active. I was listening to the original song a couple o' moths ago and the lyrics just popped up in my head, I found out that they mixed good together, although I still believe I should get some better recording stuff, this is the best I can afford at the moment.
